Sharepoint 2013 Installation on windows 2012 R2

As sharepoint 2013 first service pack has been released so there is no need to follow these steps but if you don't want to download 1.03 GB data (size of the Service pack 1). You can follow following steps to run SHAREPOINT 2013 on your Windows server 2012 R2.


1. Login to your R2 server as Administrator. Start Power Shell as Administrator and execute following statements:

Import-Module ServerManager

Add-WindowsFeature NET-WCF-HTTP-Activation45,NET-WCF-TCP-Activation45,NET-WCF-Pipe-Activation45 -Source D:\Sources\sxs

Add-WindowsFeature Net-Framework-Features,Web-Server,Web-WebServer,Web-Common-Http,Web-Static-Content,Web-Default-Doc,Web-Dir-Browsing,Web-Http-Errors,Web-App-Dev,Web-Asp-Net,Web-Net-Ext,Web-ISAPI-Ext,Web-ISAPI-Filter,Web-Health,Web-Http-Logging,Web-Log-Libraries,Web-Request-Monitor,Web-Http-Tracing,Web-Security,Web-Basic-Auth,Web-Windows-Auth,Web-Filtering,Web-Digest-Auth,Web-Performance,Web-Stat-Compression,Web-Dyn-Compression,Web-Mgmt-Tools,Web-Mgmt-Console,Web-Mgmt-Compat,Web-Metabase,Application-Server,AS-Web-Support,AS-TCP-Port-Sharing,AS-WAS-Support, AS-HTTP-Activation,AS-TCP-Activation,AS-Named-Pipes,AS-Net-Framework,WAS,WAS-Process-Model,WAS-NET-Environment,WAS-Config-APIs,Web-Lgcy-Scripting,Windows-Identity-Foundation,Server-Media-Foundation,Xps-Viewer -Source D:\Sources\sxs

D:\ is your windows installation path.

2. Download all prerequisites from the Internet and save it on local disk of the server, e.g. C:\SP2013Prereq:
SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 Native Client
Microsoft WCF Data Services 5.0
Microsoft Information Protection and Control Client (MSIPC)
Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime v1.0 SP1 (x64)
Windows Identity Extensions
Windows Identity Foundation (KB974405)
Windows Server AppFabric
CU 1 for AppFabric 1.1 (KB2671763)

3. Install all prerequisites directly from the prerequisites folder in the download sequence, except the last two (AppFabric and CU 1 for AppFabric).
4. AppFabric requires special configuration, therefore installing it usual way is not be enough for SharePoint. Install it using following statement from command line
 
 
WindowsServerAppFabricSetup_x64.exe /i CacheClient","CachingService","CacheAdmin /gac


6. Restart your server

Congratulations! Now you will be able to start SharePoint 2013 installer directly and to continue with SharePoint 2013 installation and configuration.

Difference between Events and Delegates

Events are basically actions raised by an object when some condition met.
Like In stock class there is a property named Limit, and it raised an notification when it reaches certain limit. This notification is done by events


Delegate is more generic term which is similar to a pointer to a function.
They are generally used as a input parameter. In particular they are perfect way to implement Strategy patternFor example, if I want to sort a List of objects, I can provide a Compare strategy to the method to tell the implementation how to compare two objects.

in the same place where you call gr.DrawString, you can also do gr.DrawImage(position, size, overlayImage). It helps if your image-to-overlay is loaded from a PNG file (with transparency) to produce the best quality.

Strategy Pattern

To describe the strategy pattern, lets take an example of Football game.
The specific design problem is,
       when game is in progress any team can change its strategy from defend to attack or vice-          
       versa.

The solution for the same is strategy pattern.
         We need to let the algorithm vary independently from clients that uses it.
Very soon I will update article with sample code and class diagram.

Login failed for user 'IIS APPPOOL\ASP.NET v4.0'

To solve this problem we need to change the application pool's identity. 

You can change the ApplicationPoolIdentity from IIS7 -> Application Pools -> Advanced Settings.AdvancedSettings
Under ApplicationPoolIdentity you will find local system. This will make your application run under NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM, which is an existing login for the database by default.

Devart oracle issue: ORA-01482

By default, strings in EF Code-First are considered as unicode and without explicit length. They would be VARCHAR2 if the [not unicode string] and [length < 4000 symbols] settings were specified in mapping for a particular property.

Solution for the attribute mapping. Specify the MaxLength(123) attribute if you have the VARCHAR2(123) column in your database. Also turn off PropertyMaxLengthConvention from the Conventions collection in DbModelBuilder (this convention is used for unicode strings).

Solution for the smooth mapping is just Set HasMaxLength(123) and IsUnicode(false) for the corresponding property. In this case there is no need to turn off PropertyMaxLengthConvention.

And we have to disable auto proxy generation if we are using EF Code-First approch. This can be done by writing
Configuration.ProxyCreationEnabled = false;
in the constructor of the Context class.

UML Basic notations


UML is popular for its diagrammatic notations. We all know that UML is for visualizing, specifying, constructing and documenting the components of software and non software systems. Here theVisualization is the most important part which needs to be understood and remembered by heart.

Structural Things:

Graphical notations used in structural things are the most widely used in UML. These are considered as the nouns of UML models. Following are the list of structural things.
  • Classes
  • Interface
  • Collaboration
  • Use case
  • Active classes
  • Components
  • Nodes

Class Notation:

UML class is represented by the diagram shown below. The diagram is divided into four parts.
  • The top section is used to name the class.
  • The second one is used to show the attributes of the class.
  • The third section is used to describe the operations performed by the class.
  • The fourth section is optional to show any additional components.
Class Notation
Classes are used to represent objects. Objects can be anything having properties and responsibility.

Object Notation:

The object is represented in the same way as the class. The only difference is the name which is underlined as shown below.
Object Notation
As object is the actual implementation of a class which is known as the instance of a class. So it has the same usage as the class.

Interface Notation:

Interface is represented by a circle as shown below. It has a name which is generally written below the circle.
Interface Notation
Interface is used to describe functionality without implementation. Interface is the just like a template where you define different functions not the implementation. When a class implements the interface it also implements the functionality as per the requirement.

Collaboration Notation:

Collaboration is represented by a dotted eclipse as shown below. It has a name written inside the eclipse.

Collaboration represents responsibilities. Generally responsibilities are in a group.

Use case Notation:

Use case is represented as an eclipse with a name inside it. It may contain additional responsibilities.

Use case is used to capture high level functionalities of a system.

Actor Notation:

An actor can be defined as some internal or external entity that interacts with the system.

Actor is used in a use case diagram to describe the internal or external entities.

Initial State Notation:

Initial state is defined to show the start of a process. This notation is used in almost all diagrams.

Final State Notation:

Final state is used to show the end of a process. This notation is also used in almost all diagrams to describe the end.

Active class Notation:

Active class looks similar to a class with a solid border. Active class is generally used to describe concurrent behaviour of a system.

Component Notation:

A component in UML is shown as below with a name inside. Additional elements can be added wherever required.

Node Notation:

A node in UML is represented by a square box as shown below with a name. A node represents a physical component of the system.

Node is used to represent physical part of a system like server, network etc.

Behavioural Things:

Dynamic parts are one of the most important elements in UML. UML has a set of powerful features to represent the dynamic part of software and non software systems. These features include interactions and state machines.
Interactions can be of two types:
  • Sequential (Represented by sequence diagram)
  • Collaborative (Represented by collaboration diagram)

Interaction Notation:

Interaction is basically message exchange between two UML components. The following diagram represents different notations used in an interaction.

Grouping Things:

Organizing the UML models are one of the most important aspects of the design. In UML there is only one element available for grouping and that is package.

Package Notation:

Package notation is shown below and this is used to wrap the components of a system.

In any diagram explanation of different elements and their functionalities are very important. So UML has notes notation to support this requirement.

This notation is shown below and they are used to provide necessary information of a system.

Relationships

A model is not complete unless the relationships between elements are described properly. TheRelationship gives a proper meaning to an UML model. Following are the different types of relationships available in UML.
  • Dependency
  • Association
  • Generalization
  • Extensibility

Dependency Notation:

Dependency is an important aspect in UML elements. It describes the dependent elements and the direction of dependency.
Dependency is represented by a dotted arrow as shown below. The arrow head represents the independent element and the other end the dependent element.

Dependency is used to represent dependency between two elements of a system.

Association Notation:

Association describes how the elements in an UML diagram are associated. In simple word it describes how many elements are taking part in an interaction.
Association is represented by a dotted line with (without) arrows on both sides. The two ends represent two associated elements as shown below. The multiplicity is also mentioned at the ends (1, * etc) to show how many objects are associated.

Generalization Notation:

Generalization describes the inheritance relationship of the object oriented world. It is parent and child relationship.
Generalization is represented by an arrow with hollow arrow head as shown below. One end represents the parent element and the other end child element.

Extensibility Notation:

All the languages (programming or modeling) have some mechanism to extend its capabilities like syntax, semantics etc. UML is also having the following mechanisms to provide extensibility features.
  • Stereotypes (Represents new elements)
  • Tagged values (Represents new attributes)
  • Constraints (Represents the boundaries)
Extensibility Notation
Extensibility notations are used to enhance the power of the language. It is basically additional elements used to represent some extra behaviour of the system. These extra behaviours are not covered by the standard available notations.
